An analysis found that a significant number of Baltimore high school students earned below a β€œD” grade point average during the first three quarters of the 2020–2021 school year.
WBFF’s Project Baltimore’s analysis found that during that time period, 41 percent earned a 1.0-grade point average (GPA) or below. That means more than 8,400 students out of Baltimore City Schools’ 20,500 total population are getting grades below a β€œD” overall.
The analysis found that 21 percent of city high school students obtained a 3.0 or better GPAβ€”or a β€œB” average.
The school district appeared to blame the recent events as the reason for the poor student performance.
β€œConsistent with the experience of many school districts across the country, *****-19 created significant disruptions to student learning. As early as the summer of 2020, City Schools identified large numbers of students with decreases in their grade point averages and classroom performance when compared to past performances,” Baltimore City Schools said in a statement.
On Thursday, the state planning agency, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) said that China will release more than 10 million tonnes of coal from its state reserves, with the potential for further releases in line with market demand. The biggest release of coal from China’s state reserves this year is aimed at steadying surging prices on the back of strong industrial activity the SCMP reported
β€œChinese domestic coal production for the January to June 2021 period is up 6.9 percent year on year and 9.9 percent higher on 2019 production.”
Heathrow passenger numbers remain almost 90 percent down on pre-crisis levels and significantly lower than regional rival airports. Airport bosses revealed just 957,000 passengers passed through its terminals in June compared with 7,246,157 who used the west London airport in June 2019.
