Fire at Union Terrace Elementary School in Allentown, Pennsylvania

Monday around 5:54PM Allentown Fire Department was sent to 1939 Union Street on a structural fire. Engine 10 reported a header while enroute to the scene. Upon arrival they reported fire showing from the classroom trailers.

Battalion 43 arrived and took command as the fire dispatcher was advising him additional fires in the buildings.

As more hand lines were stretched and crews searching for additional fires, Chief 43 struck the second alarm. Engine 6 on the second alarm was ordered to the rear of the school (North side) and to bring another water supply with them.

The video starts out with a fire along the northern driveway from Walnut Street. That fire was a porta-john toilet.

A firefighter in the bucket of Truck 2 had a medical emergency and had to be aided by the Paramedics of Allentown EMS. He was transported to a local hospital due to what appeared to be heat exhaustion (not confirmed).

Firefighters were battling this blaze in high heat and humidity.

Engines 10, 4, 9, 11, 6, 14, Trucks 1, 2 under the command of Battalion 43 operated at the scene. Engine 13 from the Eastside was relocated to the Central Firehouse while the volunteer companies from the suburbs were put on standby for the city.
