Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is a former federal prosecutor whose family brought him to the U.S. from Cuba as an infant, and is the first immigrant and Latino to lead the agency. Since taking office, Mayorkas has made combating domestic violent extremism one of the agency’s top priorities.
