Placid Playthroughs™: C&C Twisted Insurrection, GDI Mission 16

Twisted Insurrection is a standalone game based on a heavily modified Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun engine.

Hey, this time I've created a list of exciting moments throughout the mission, in case you want to watch only the weirdcredible stuff like Mammoth Mk.2 combat airdrop.

Well, whoever created Twisted Insurrection has outdone themselves for the last mission in the GDI campaign. This mission is a marvel, to not say lightly.

The GDI has created a base to disrupt the Brotherhood's R&D of a cutting-edge bomber technology: the Wraith, which proves to be really powerful, especially in the armor department. The GDI forces are deploying the experimental Mammoth Mk.2 heavy assault walker for this operation, and the commander has to protect it until it is operational.

Anyway, the first part of the mission is tiberium reconnaissance, which implies using three elite riflemen to scout the area for an abandoned GloboTech tiberium refinery. This includes helping a small town militia to defend from tiberian wildlife assault, luring a giant explosive bug into the base defences, and trying to survive interrogation by the Brotherhood.

The second part is the one that has taken me dozen reloads to succeed. The commander has to defend the Mammoth Mk.2 prototype against massive amounts of air and ground units, all while trying to capture the aforementioned GloboTech tiberium refinery base which is deep within heavily infested tiberium fields, full of ferocious wildlife. One has to demonstrate insane micro- and macro-management skills in order to mount a successful airdrop to the GloboTech base while defending Mammoth Mk.2.

The third part is when you finally establish a decent economy and assault the Brotherhood's research facility, which is being cloaked by massive stealth generators. However, once you successfully recapture the GloboTech base, you get so much tiberium that this becomes a trivial task. I have to admit though that it took me far too long to realize that destroying the base's power supply will disable the shield and defences.

Clearly the best mission in the campaign, all things considered. Definitely worth playing - or watching, at the very least.

Hey, let me know if you feel like watching the NOD campaign playthrough. I see that some folks are watching this, so maybe y'all want to watch me bringing peace through power.
