White House cuts microphone as reporters demand answers from Biden over Afghanistan withdrawal

President Joe Biden has refused to answer questions from journalists regarding America's impending withdrawal from Afghanistan, despite facing widespread criticism for the chaotic manner in which America is leaving the war torn nation.

During an cyber security event at the White House, President Biden refused to answer questions about what will happen to American or Afghan allies left behind after the August 31st deadline.

In an extraordinary move, White House aides cut the microphone to stop President Biden from taking questions.

The Biden administration has maintained that it will leave Afghanistan by August 31st.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken told a news conference on Wednesday that about 4,500 Americans, out of the 6,000 who wanted to leave Afghanistan have been evacuated so far.

However the administration has faced bipartisan criticism for the nature of the withdrawal.

There are fears some Afghan allies - and even American citizens - may be left behind as America prepares to leave after 20 years of conflict.
