3 Signs of Your Spiritual Gifts!

Every Christian, born again, is part of God's universal family. We are welcome into His arms and begin our journey with Him into eternity. As parts of this body of Christ, God has blessed us with gifts. Gifts to serve His church as well as people He routinely places in our paths. God gives us discernment to spot His gifts as well as how they can be used. He gives us the strength and wisdom to pursue the paths that He has laid in front of us. These are all aspects of the Christian journey that are only fully experienced through the His Holy Spirit. God pours out His spirit to those who ask, liberally so when the time comes, they can do His work.

But till we arrive at that point in time, we have to ask How do I discover my spiritual gift?

We hope you stick around to watch and learn how from the video.

Today's video is about how we as Christians can discover our spiritual gifts. Be sure to hit the like button, and subscribe for more Christian content.

While it is important to serve and to ask what our spiritual gifts are, it might be just as important to ask instead "How can I serve in the body of Christ?" The answer to this question can be considered in a few steps.

1. You notice that your talent seems to fit in exactly with what the church needs.

The First Question to ask is what does the body of Christ need?

What are the biblical needs of the body and how do my talents and interests line up with the needs of the body of Christ? Do you realize that the church needs singers? How about preachers, or counselors? Volunteer workers and youth workers? If you notice the body needs that then it is no coincidence you are there with those gifts and interests. You have been placed in that community to fill the specific slots that those communities require. This is a better approach than asking the question "What are my spiritual gifts?" When we ask the question "What are our spiritual gifts?" we are inherently limiting the gifts God could give to that of the human imagination. In reality, the spiritual gifts from God are expansive and cover even spheres we as humans might not be able to properly account for.

So when we ask what does the body of Christ need? We open the door for God to show us the exact points for our talents and gifts. If you notice your talents always seem to fulfill a timely spiritual need, then that might very well be your spiritual gift.

2. The second sign we need to pay attention to to help us discover our spiritual gift is what comes and feels natural to us. We have to ask, where do I feel most at peace? In what capacity do I feel most like a positive contributor to God's body?
Remember it's difficult to clearly give a job title to every spiritual gift, but it's easier to spot and use your gifts if you understand in what capacity you are acting, what you are doing, regardless of if there is a specific job title attached to it. It could be that you take particular joy in spending time with old people and sharing the gospel with them. An official title isn't needed if you know that this is exactly the way you enjoy contributing to the message of God's kingdom.

God will use what you are good at, what comes naturally and feels most comfortable for you to draw you and others closer to Him. Those are the gifts He has given and wants you to use for His family.

3. A final sign of your spiritual gift is the testimony of others concerning you.
The testimonies from other members of the church can be a strong indicator of the parts of your life where your spiritual gifts reside. A testimony could be a sign of the areas of your work with the body of Christ that God blesses.
When people testify we are able to see what parts of our lives are providing spiritual yield into the Kingdom of God. From there we can nurture and raise these aspects to full manifestation to be used for the glory of God.

While we try to find out what our spiritual talents are, we have to be careful not to fall victim to some of the pitfalls others tend to fall into when we talk of spiritual gifts.

The first pitfall is that of comparison.

Even in the church, we see people comparing their gifts to the spiritual gifts of others and judging theirs to be inferior. We see these comparisons in many forms and at different times. These feelings of comparisons and inferiority mean each gift will not be used as appropriate. Instead, we will try to adapt our gifts to fulfill the purposes other gifts are supposed to fill. It becomes more about the gift and the one using the gift rather than the glory of God. As Christians, we are to avoid this pitfall at all costs. We have to learn how to recenter ourselves and refocus on God and how we can use our spiritual gifts to His glory.
