Agni-5 Missile test launch clip from Last night | Nuclear capable ballistic missile

DRDO has been planning from past few months to test its Agni 5 missile regarding which even Beijing has raised concern and for obvious reasons. While the exact reason for the delay in the testing of AGNI 5 is not known but the good news is that India has finally tested Agni 5 MIRV on Wednesday at 7:50 PM from APJ Abdul Kalam Island in Odisha. The recent test of Agni 5 is clear evidence India’s advance and improving nuclear capabilities. In today’s video we will discuss about the Agni 5 specification and its strategic importance. We will also answer some common questions such as why testing of Agni 5 missile is important for India and how it will give us edge over our adversaries. So, let’s get started.
Testing:
Talking about the testing of the missile, previously 7 tests were conducted for Agni 5. Today’s test is its user trial conducted in the supervision of India’s Strategic Forces Command which is responsible for the management and administration of the India's tactical and strategic nuclear weapons stockpile.
Importance and edge:
On 28th June 2021, India had successful tested Agni prime which is also capable of carrying nuclear warhead and has a range of 1000-2000 km. Agni Prime is 6th missile in Agni series which aimed to replace Agni 1 with a range of 700-1200km and Agni 2 with a range of 2000-3500km.
Agni prime will also complement Agni 5. The technology used in Agni 5 was 1st tested and proven in Agni Prime. This is main reason why we witnessed Agni prime testing before Agni 5. The main advantage of having Agni 5 missile is that it can hit entire China mainland and Pakistan.
After the successful testing of Agni 5, it is very likely that we could see the development and testing of K5 SLBM. We know that K5 is Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile which will be equipped in Arihant class SSBNs. It will have same range and capability as that of Agni 5.
Specification and capability:
Talking about the technical specifications of Agni 5, it is a nuclear capable MIRV missile which can carry multiple warheads. The missile uses a three-stage solid fuelled engine and is capable of striking targets at a range of up to 5,000 kilometres with a very high degree of accuracy. The missile will have a maximum speed of Mach 24 at its terminal phase. Agni 5 can be transported by a truck and launched via a canister which makes its highly mobile and difficult to detect. It is equipped with a ring laser gyroscope based inertial navigation system and micro inertial navigation system. The 17-metre long, 2-metre-wide missile can carry a payload of 1.5 tonne and weighs around 50 tonnes. India is the eighth country to have intercontinental ballistic missiles after the US, UK, Russia, China, France, Israel and North Korea.
