Sky News host Alan Jones says the weakness of the Biden administration has the corollary of “emboldening those who oppose the West” and there are “genuine fears about the fate of Taiwan”.
This comes as nearly 150 Chinese warplanes have breached Taiwan’s air defence zone since last Friday.
Mr Jones said former prime minister Tony Abbott has travelled to Taiwan where he will give a keynote address at the Yushan Forum, which is an annual conference “aimed at strengthening Taiwan’s relations in an increasingly contested region”.
“It is absolutely critical that Tony Abbott be there when the West is weak in leadership and Beijing must surely be contemplating using military force in the Taiwan Strait,” Mr Jones said.
