Tune in to watch a live stream of the upcoming Partial (almost total!) Lunar Eclipse from Hawaiʻi !!
Hawaiʻi is ideally located to view the entirety of the partial lunar eclipse, which will span 6 hours from start of penumbral phase to the end. The partial eclipse phase lasts for about 3 hours, 28 minutes, and 23 seconds, the longest this century.
This lunar eclipse will fall just shy of being total; 97.4% of the moon's diameter will become immersed in the Earth's dark umbral shadow at maximum eclipse, leaving just the southernmost limb ever-so-slightly beyond the outer edge of the umbra.
At maximum eclipse, the 'Super Full Moon' will be eclipsed for about 14 minutes. When the Full Moon or New Moon occurs during the Moon's closest approach to Earth, its perigee, it is often called a supermoon.

The live stream will also feature memories about the Moon from friends working in the field of science and those scientifically inclined. No, not scientific memories, but their childhood memories that connect them to the Moon :)
NOTE: Skywatches are subject to weather conditions and can lead to the event being delayed or canceled!
