Mary Trump, the niece of former president Donald Trump, said recently that if Trump believes he has no chance of losing, he will not hesitate to run for President again. But she also said that the lingering threat of multiple criminal and civil lawsuits could also be enough to force Trump back into the political arena. This is the part that makes the most sense, as Trump was able to successfully fight off lawsuits and investigations while he was president, but he lost all of that protection when he left office. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins discusses this.

Mary Trump, the niece of former president Donald Trump, recently did an interview where she explained why she thinks her uncle may run for office again. And she actually gave two very good reasons. First one, obviously, if he sees a clear path to victory, if he believes he has no chance of losing, then hell yeah, he's going to run. I mean, look, if I knew for a fact I wouldn't lose, I'd run for president too, right? I mean, what do you got to lose if you know you're going to win. But the second one is far more interesting. Here's what she said. If Donald gets to the point where he believes that if he ran, he couldn't lose, why wouldn't he run? He's in so much trouble, legally, criminally and civilly. What gets completely left out of the narrative is the absolute horrific hand that Biden was dealt.
Look at what he came into office having to deal with. Now, of course, several points to unpack there. I already did address the first one, right? Oh, if he thinks he's gonna win, he's gonna run. Sure. The legal problems. That's the big one that she mentioned, right? When Donald Trump was president of the United States, he was able to get every investigation, every lawsuit against him pushed down the road. He didn't have to sit for depositions. He didn't have to turn over evidence. He didn't have to deal with any of it because he was claiming executive privilege. He was president of the United States. He's a busy man. He's got a lot to do, big country to run here. We got to push this back and it worked. But since he left office, it hasn't. None of his claims of executive privilege have worked. Most of his attempts to push his lawsuits back have failed.
And he is now facing more than two dozen lawsuits and that doesn't even include the criminal investigations in Georgia, DC and New York. So if you know that being president pushes all of these things to the back burner for you for four years, why wouldn't you go ahead and take that chance? I mean, honestly, given the fact that he's facing so many lawsuits and so many criminal investigations, I'm shocked he hasn't already come out and said, hey, I'm running for president. And then use that as an excuse to get all of these things pushed back another four years, actually at this point, it'd be seven years if he were to win. And I think that's the big one. But the last thing she talked about and I want to hit on this for a brief moment. The hand that Biden was dealt. His approval rating is hovering around 40%. People aren't happy. Bad things are happening still, right?
The inflation, the supply chain shortages, all of those are very bad things and they're affecting, you know, average everyday people. We're paying more for things than we were a year ago. That's bad. Also none of this is Joe Biden's fault. This was created because of the pandemic and now that the pandemic, or at least we're acting like it's over, demand skyrockets. So prices skyrocket because supply is low. This is basic economics, folks. But this was all coming to a head when Biden took over. If Donald Trump were president today, it would still be happening. And honestly, it's difficult to even say that this is Trump's fault. Of course, had he taken the pandemic more seriously we wouldn't have had COVID for so long, possibly, certainly wouldn't have had as many people die.
