Horseback archery is quickly regaining popularity as a niche sport in Malaysia. For thousands of years, the sport was common in the country where riders mastered being able to use a bow and arrow while hunting or during warfare, skills that were lost after the introduction of firearms and other modern forms of combat gear equipment. But now the pastime is galloping back. The town of Rembrau in southern Malaysia hosted a tournament on November 13, 2021, the first in two years because of the pandemic, where riders had to hit nine targets within 30 seconds. Horseback archers must gallop along a 200-metre (650ft) track, scoring points based on accuracy and speed.
