Peruvian President Pedro Castillo visited La Jalca Grande, Monday, in the aftermath of the 7.5-magnitude earthquake that hit Northern Peru on Sunday.
Castillo called on locals to evacuate areas that have been "totally collapsed" as some locals got isolated by the destruction of roads in the Amazonas region.
The National Institute of Civil Defence reported that the earthquake has so far left five people injured and affected 2,412 people.
SOT, Pedro Castillo, President of Peru (Spanish): "This whole area is totally collapsed, the water is damming up, the land has collapsed and crashed on the other side of the river, if we don't get out we are going to have consequences".
