The first one is a referral marketing/referral management agency, where you come up to a business, and tell them that you can build out an affiliate program for them, and all they need to do, is pay you monthly, or pay you for every affiliate your program generates.
So one type of business you can do this for is agencies, where you incentivize their clients to refer them to people they know, so by using their link to book a demo call, once that referral becomes a client, the client who referred them automatically gets paid 20% to 40% in recurring monthly payments.
One thing that’s cool about this is that not only does that agency’s client retention increase, but you’re allowing an agency’s clients to completely refund their marketing expenses from just getting 2 to 3 referrals, which means that agency keeps that client for life.
This is actually a new feature on High Level, where it generates a unique affiliate link for someone, and that link then tracks using Cookies, what IP address has clicked on it and if they proceed to pay, that automatically splits the percentage commission of a product on stripe.
I’m actually using it for my own agency, and my plan is to approach Influencers in the body sculpting space, and tell them if they can promote it to their audience, they can get recurring passive income. And then from the clients she brings me, they can become affiliates, refund their marketing costs, and the affiliate scheme continues, until you don’t need to do outbound anymore and you spend nothing on your marketing because your clients are doing all the word of mouth.
Alright so the second agency I would start, actually isn’t so much of an agency. But it’s more of a consulting / SAAS hybrid. So essentially what you’re doing here is that you’re capturing all of the attention by giving away all the secrets, but then selling the implementation, in the form of a recurring subscription to your own software.
And software really is the future, because one of my longest staying clients is also one of my clients who makes use of the software on a daily basis, so of course she basically stays as a client forever. And like I said, combine this with the affiliate strategy I talked about earlier and before you even know it you’ve monopolized your niche.
With that being said, those are my 2 recommendations going into 2023, and also while we’re at it, here are 2 agencies I think are absolutely dumb to start even though some people told you it was a good idea to start them, weirdly because those are the same types of agencies that fit in the best for you to use an all in one client communication and invoicing software for your clients. Don’t start a:
- Short form content agency
- Discord management
I don’t know why you guys think these were good agencies to start, I don’t know how you thought you could make any sort of profit from these agencies without becoming a slave to your clients. Like actually think of it 5 years down the line, what’s your plan with a short form content agency? You’re gonna use “contractor arbitrage” sure, but is your plan to make 10% profit margins off of other people’s edits for the rest of your life?
So anyway, with that being said guys, those are my 2 tips for how you should start or pivot your agency.
