Whose name comes to mind when you ask the question Who is your hero?
Who are the ones that influence you? The ones that you respect, admire and emulate.
Perhaps it is a family member, a celebrity, someone in the arts, or one of our sporting greats.
For the word Hero as quoted by Christopher Reeve “Is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles”
And this certainly describes our Paralympians.
Who against all odds went beyond, lifting the cloud of limitation, and demonstrating what is possible. As we watched them compete and win. Regardless of gold, silver, or bronze. For they are all winners. Winners at life, Winners of overcoming great adversity, and winners of redefining limitations.
As they change our perceptions of disabilities to super-abilities with courage, strength, and determination. We celebrate you. We applause you. We admire you and we thank you. For you are all heroes.
Humanities guardians of hope, possibilities, and the enduring human spirit.
