People think ‘feelings are more important than facts’ when it comes to renewables

The Australian’s Judith Sloan says many people seem to think “feelings are more important than facts” when it comes to the push for renewable energy to achieve targets like net-zero emissions by 2050.

“People feel strong support for renewable energy; it’s the vibe,” she told Sky News host Chris Kenny.

“But the trouble is that there are some facts, there are some laws of physics, there are some laws of engineering, and there’s the unreliability of the weather.

“And it’s all kind of mixing up into quite a toxic brew which is quite ironic because we’re heading into the Glasgow climate talk fest where there’ll be a lot of feelings on display.”
